Priyesha Nair: "Let us all try and move beyond hatred, anger and resentment."
BPP: Who are you?
And who you really are?
Priyesha Krishnan Nair: My name is Priyesha K. Nair, I live in Bombay, India. I work with Citizens for Peace as a program coordinator and I am a digital artist and poet. I’m really a seeker, a traveller with a bag full of ideas and interests.
We all know love is strengthening and empowering and unconditional love is a very high and pure platform. We also know it is said that to change the world we have to change our heart first, one has to work on building a very strong foundation of one’s ideals, of what one stands for in order to be able to be successful.
I think the purpose of every person in their lives is to reach that stage, to give, and to give unconditionally. And it was a very recent realization that my purpose in life is to first change (for good) and that every action performed by me should be performed out of love. Whether it is completing my work, listening to a friend, making dinner or serving a glass of water. In each of these actions the purpose is to bring myself to that pure and giving space and hope that it will create a ripple effect :)
BPP: If you could say something important to others
who were listening, what would you tell them?
Priyesha Krishnan Nair: That there is nothing wrong with you, that you should believe in yourself more than anyone else. Low self esteem is one of the biggest issues and it means really lack of finding fulfillment in oneself. I have been very fortunate and blessed to have found teachers, my family at Citizens for Peace and friends who have taught me by example and invested time and effort in me (and I am still trying hard to learn). I have learned that real confidence doesn’t only come through material success and achievements but the fulfillment of who we really are and what our purpose is.
BPP: What is
your true dream, the one that keeps you up at night and if one day it were to
come true you would feel peace and calmness in your heart?
Priyesha Krishnan Nair: I dream about exploring - to explore the world, the ways and lives of people and their relationships with each other and with nature. Of living a life full of poetry, art, music and love.
BPP: How is life currently for the people in your
country and what would you wish for them and for the planet at large?
Priyesha Krishanan Nair: There’s a lot of work that needs to be done, in India and all over the world. People talk about development, progress... but really is that truly progress? I wish people would slow down a little and take a good closer look at what is happening in the world and how their participation in improving the situation is so important. We have to stand besides each other and not against each other.
BPP: If you had a chance to be a child again would you
choose the same life?
Priyesha Krishnan Nair: I would love to take on more challenges and not hide in my shell. Apart from that the only other regret is not expressing enough, not giving, sharing what I intensely felt. That’s something I would want to change. In fact that's something I am working on now.
BPP: What was
the exact moment that you realized what you wanted to do with your life? How did you feel at this very moment?
Priyesha Krishnan Nair: There’s no one moment I can recall, its actually been a continuous process of learning and getting to know others and oneself.
BPP: Would you like to tell us something we didn’t ask
until now?
Priyesha Krishnan Nair: The world is plunged in a state of sorrow and despair. Violence of all kinds is visible on so many levels. Let us all try and move beyond hatred, anger and resentment. Let us try at least, and I say this with great humility because I myself have been struggling to be able to fully bring this into practice. I wish to, with all my heart.

Priyesha Krishnan Nair is a Programme Coorinator at Citizens for Peace (CfP).
Citizens for Peace was formed in 1992, as a reaction to a set of events. Since then,
they have realised that they have a larger and more continuing role to play.
Peace must be guarded on a day-to–day basis. Which is why they redefined their role.
They believe in prevention rather than cure, in creating an ‘immunity’ to intolerance
rather than just fighting its ugly aftermath, in dissolving the invisible roots of violence
rather than its visible above-ground offshoots.
