BPP: Who are you?  And who you really are?

Jef Cablog: I am Jef Cablog, a painter from Baguio City, Philippines. I am a person with a lot of questions in life and I am hoping to find enlightenment thru painting.

BPP: If you could say something important to others who were listening, what would you tell them?

BPP:  What is your true dream, the one that keeps you up at night and if one day it were to come true you would feel peace and calmness in your heart?

Jef Kablog: My dream is to make paintings that give a certain feeling of satisfaction and happiness to me and to channel this feelings to my viewers.

BPP: How is life currently for the people in your country and what would you wish for them and for the planet at large?

Jef Kablog: Filipinos are known for being conservative. The country is gradually opening to changes in our conservative/traditional ways which can be advantageous in the growth of our economy. A better economy means a better life and good opportunities for the Filipinos in general.

May all of us find contentment and peace within.

BPP: If you had a chance to be a child again would you choose the same life?

Jef Kablog: Yes, I would definitely choose the same path I’ve chosen in this life.

BPP: What was the exact moment that you realized what you wanted to do with your life?  How did you feel at this very moment?

Jef Kablog: Though I was oblivious to the fact that I will become an artist as a profession, I think I’ve always been an artist ever since I was a kid. I recall I’ve always been interested in my art subject, I’ve always wanted to draw. I also recall that I’ve always been competitive in terms of wanting to be the best in art in our class.

When I graduated in high school and was preparing to enroll for college, I didn’t consider any other courses but Fine Arts. I thought that it was the field I excelled in so I decided to push through with Art as a profession. I thought it best to hone the skills that I already have.

I am happy with the profession that I’ve chosen because I am doing what I enjoy the most. After all, people succeed when they do what they love and enjoy doing.

Jef Cablog: I’ve used only palette knife in all my paintings from 2009 to present.
