BPP: Who are you? And who you really are?
Miwa Maruta: I'm "Miwa". It literally means "Beauty" and "Relief".
I'm a Japanese woman and I live with my husband and with the company of a Chipmunk and of three little goldfishes.
I'm glad that the old kimono revived through the doll's kimonos.
Also, I would like to reproduce the customs of old Japanese dolls.
私は美和です。
夫とシマリスと三匹の金魚と一緒に、日本で暮らしています。
古い着物が人形の着物に蘇るのが嬉しいです。
また、人形たちで古い日本の風俗を再現したいです。

I feel confused for being called an "Artist".

BPP: If you could say something important to others who were listening, what would you tell them?
Miwa Maruta: One's favorite occupation should continue, even if the enviroment around us do not fully understand it. Knowledge is inextricably linked with the long-term study and thanks to that, new discoveries are raised.

BPP: What is your true dream, the one that keeps you up at night and if one day it were to come true you would feel peace and calmness in your heart?
Miwa Maruta: My dream is to create the perfect piece which will bring to me peace and calmness.
But I think that such a day will never come.
Every single day I just study on my work .

BPP: How is life currently for the people in your country and what would you wish for them and for the planet at large?
Miwa Maruta: The gap between social classes widens more & more and human relations are becoming very weak. I think now is the moment of truth.
I don't think old days were good but we might learn from the past.
For the planet at large, I wish we could prevent warming.
格差の拡大と、人間関係が希薄になってきています。
昔の日本がいいとは思いませんが、
地球規模では、温暖化をなんとかしたいです。

BPP: What was the exact moment that you realized what you wanted to do with your life? How did you feel at this very moment?
Miwa Maruta: Kimonos are perfectly recyclable garments. But we can't sew them nowadays.
Many Japanese people cannot wear a kimono by themselves now.
When I watch the kimonos that I have just finish to take their own life, I would like to harness them once again.
着物は完璧に再利用できる衣料です。
今、多くの日本人は自分で着物を着ることも出来ません。
寿命を終えた着物を見て、もう一度活かしたいと思いました。

I love "Samurai drama" and Kimonos from my childhood.
I thought making a kimono for doll is my true vocation.
