BPP: Who are you?  And who you really are?

Sharon Aur: My name is Sharon Aur and I live in rural North Wales, U.K. Its a beautful place to live. I have a wild secluded beach at my back gate, and an ancient forest at my front door.
Im a self taught sculptress. Using polymer clay and mixed materials, I have developed my own method of making them, and dont share too many trade secrets !
Ive been told in the past that Im paradoxical, the reason for this being I have light and dark within me, and I express both sides through my sculptures and photography.

My purpose in life is to sculpt, I have no doubt about that, to give pleasure to other people through my work. When Im often told Ive chosen such a difficult profession, my answer is "No, my profession chose me"!

BPP: If you could say something important to others who were listening, what would you tell them?

Sharon Aur: Patience is always something I cling onto dearly, and Ive learned how important it is over the years. another thing Ive learned is to keep life as uncomplicated as possible, simplicity is the key to my life. I only want the things I need, I dont need the things I want. Theres something very important I tell myself everyday and I would love to share it with everyone, which is "Theres no such word as cant".

BPP:  What is your true dream, the one that keeps you up at night and if one day it were to come true you would feel peace and calmness in your heart?

Sharon Aur: I dream of living as one with animals. I absolutely love animals, they give you the purest form of unconditional love, without the complications that humans possess.
I would run free with the foxes in the forest, fly high with the buzzards in the cloud free sky, and at night, fly with the owls in the moonlit rain.
Looking at the World through childs eyes.

BPP: How is life currently for the people in your country and what would you wish for them and for the planet at large?

Sharon Aur: I stay away from the World at large, it corrupts my mind. I spend my days walking in the forest with my nephew Elis, or on the beach where I can cast away any worries without looking back, knowing the sea will give me the answers.
I find too much strife and pain in our World sometimes and my fragile soul cant cope with it. As a result I find solace in nature, animals, family, and my beautiful surroundings.

BPP: If you had a chance to be a child again would you choose the same life?

Sharon Aur:Yes I would. The life I have led since being a child has led me on the road Im on today. Im happy visiting the cabin in the woods alone, and roaming the beach at dusk in the wild wind. If anything had changed as a child I believe I wouldnt have these privileges today, as simple as they may seem, they are very precious and valuable to me.

BPP What was the exact moment that you realized what you wanted to do with your life?  How did you feel at this very moment?

Sharon Aur:I didint know what I really wanted to do with my life until I was in my 30's.
It was unravelled to me slowly over a period of about four years. When I got tired of drawing and painting and wanted more of a challenge, thats when I went 3D, and Ive never looked back since.

BPP: Would you like to tell us something we didn’t ask until now?

Sharon Aur: I would like to tell you about something astonishing that happenend on the day after my dog Dwci Dermos was buried.

I was visited by a beautiful tortoiseshell butterfly for a whole month ! I knew it was the same one as I kept taking photos of it on different days to see if it had the same markings compared to the ones I saw outside. I had never had a butterfly in my home before, ever.

It would flutter in, sometimes fly aboove my head in circles and then find a place (normally under the shelf where some of my sculpts are) and close its wings for the night.
I looked up the origins of the butterfly and found out that the Australian Aborigines teach that butterflies are the souls of the dead returning from the afterlife.. It was all starting to make sense to me but I wasnt sure 'was it Dwci Dermos's soul ' or a messsage from another realm letting me know he was ok ? I will never know the answer to these questions, but one thing I do know it opened my eyes to things I knew nothing about.

I super imposed his face one day on a photo I had taken of the butterfly, and this is what happened, I was amazed, I was looking at Dwci Dwemos and the butterfly 'as one'.

Here is the drawing of Sharon Aur in relevance to his beloved dog passing, She had a tortoiseshell butterfly in her home for a whole month the day after she buried him
