Gesine Marwedel:
There are a lot of people in the world, that have nearly nothing, so we should be thankful for our luck and try to share something"

BPP: Identity: Who are you?  And who you really are?

Gesine Marwedel: I am Gesine Marwedel, I'm 24 years old, working as a speech therapist and also creative therapist (which includes music and art therapy), living in Dortmund in Germany.
My purpose in life is to make the world a little better with things that I can do.. I am a very positive and active person and I love it to sort things out.

BPP: If you could say something important to others who were listening, what would you tell them?

Gesine Marwedel: I would tell them that they should be happy with all those things they have in their life and not always want more and more luxury; they should enjoy and appreciate every day of life just how it is. There are a lot of people in the world, that have nearly nothing, so we should be thankful for our luck and try to share something.

BPP:  What is your true dream, the one that keeps you up at night and if one day it were to come true you would feel peace and calmness in your heart?

Gesine Marwedel: I think that situation will never happen… there is always something to do that will keep me awake and if one dream will come true, there will be another one to dream of.

I don´t have a really big dream, my life already is like a dream and I am excited how it is going on and what else will happen.  But I always wish to do something for humans, for children… and everytime I hear about an natural disaster somewhere on earth  it keeps me awake and I wished I could immediately go there and help the involved people.

BPP: How is life currently for the people in your country and what would you wish for them and for the planet at large?

Gesine Marwedel: Life in my country is really good for most of people. Sometimes I think it is to good, because they forget to appreciate the life that they have.

BPP: If you had a chance to be a child again would you choose the same life?

Gesine Marwedel: Yes, exactly the same. There were times, that were very hard for me, but that’s why I am who I am now.

BPP:  What was the exact moment that you realized what you wanted to do with your life?  How did you feel at this very moment?

Gesine Marwedel: After my graduation in school I spend some months in india, volunteering at an orphanage. Before that I wasn´t sure what to study and which way to go. Working with those children teached me a lot and making them smile made me happy. That’s why I decided not to study art but to become a therapist and I can use my artistic skills also in the work with children.

BPP: Would you like to tell us something we didn’t ask until now?

Gesine Marwedel: I started the bodypainting three years ago. Before that I painted on canvas and wood – than I turned to paintings on skin. At the moment I´m studying about possibilities of bodypainting in that field. Bodypainting can for example find a place in the aftertreatment of (breast-) cancer; it helps clients to encourage theirselves and to feel beautiful again.

It also can help to learn accepting bodily changes or to touch a partners or own scarred body parts.
