Amalia K. : "My art is inspired mostly by dreams, unspoken thoughts, long lost messages and meaningful conversations. It is the way I communicate best."

Identity: Who you are? And who you really are?

Amalia K.: My name is
Amalia K Aradea, but I’m mostly known as Amalia K. I’m originally from Indonesia and I have been working
as an independent illustrator for over 12 years.
Being a
woman, I must say that my purpose in life would be to reach my dreams with full
passion and in the same time embrace my role as a wife and mother. I find that working in the creative
field has helped me to open up my senses on how to live my life in a more
flexible and positive way.

BPP: If you
could say something important you've learned all these years of your life, to
the other people and they were able to listen to you, what would you like to
tell them?
Amalia K: That dream is a whole equation of passion,
patience and perseverance. You’ll never accomplish anything just by waiting for
it to happen. I think it’s best to remind yourself
that pursuing your dream should be a fulfilling journey and always try to
cherish every minute of it. Even when you stumble and fall.

BPP: What is
your real dream, the one that keeps you awake at nights and if one day it will
come true, you will feel your heart calm and peaceful?
Amalia K.: When it comes to life in general, I seek the
one true thing that could make it more fulfilling, and that is balance. I would
be a very happy woman when I know that I’ve done my parts equally well as an
artist, a wife and a mother.

BPP: How is
life for the people in your country today? What do you wish to happen to them
at to the people of this planet at large?
Amalia K.: Poverty and wealth live too closely together in
Indonesia. Some people hardly have anything to eat most days while some people
flaunt their riches shamelessly. I wish tolerance and generosity can flourish
here and also throughout the world so that human being could live better in
harmony.

BPP: If you
had the chance to be a child again, will you choose to do the same life you do?
Amalia K.: Yes. Regrets are of course inevitable, but life
is what it is and perfection is never in the book. All that is left is
acceptance and to be thankful for what you have. I have often wondered what my life
would be like if I could erase my past “mistakes”, but without them some of the
joys I have in my life now would be erased too.
BPP: Which
exactly was the moment you understood what did you want to do in your life? How
did you feel at his very moment?
Amalia K.: I have always known what I wanted to do ever
since I was a child. To be able to live a life where art is a major part of it,
is without a doubt a blessing for me.

Something yours: Do you want to tell us something we didn't ask you until now?
Amalia K.: Time doesn’t stop for anyone. I’ve learned that it’s best to make the most of it today and to not let it pass by unknowingly.
