Raul Guerra: "For me the World does not need more words. It needs a loving hand"

BPP: Who are you? And who you really are?

Raul Guerra: My name is Raul Guerra.  I'm an illustrator and creator born in Ronda (Spain).
I like to refer to myself as a graphic storyteller in possession of a computer.
I spend my days drawing, painting and loving my little pug “Runa”.
I’m a person with a strong love for Mother Nature and all that contains/casts light, and for
all that is beautiful and vulnerable.
My interests include animation, Celtic culture, folk, soundtracks, design,
African Cutlure, etc…
I am not in possession of the tools that would enable me to define who I really am.
I could list the things that represent me and the things I have, but these are only a vague reflection of my true self.
I like to think of myself as a citizen of the Universe, a cosmic being, an ever-changing mass of matter, a vehicle of transmission. Part of the endless chain of Life.
I believe we are the most beautiful expression of known Life.

BPP: If you could say something important to others who were listening, what would you tell them?

Raul Guerra: If I could do this I would ask them to stay silent and listen to the amazing world around us -
To stay silent for a moment and listen…for when we are in “silence” - when our mind stops labelling and arranging the everything that surrounds us - we start to understand.
We are able to reach new levels of understanding. We realize that we are not alone, that there is no need to be afraid, that we are beautiful the way we are.

For me the World does not need more words. It needs a loving hand.
Our Earth needs its people to caress its soul and heal its wounds.
We are the children of this World. If our HOME is sick, so are we.

The time to wake up is coming. We are in need of a new way of thinking.

BPP: What is your true dream, the one that keeps you up at night and if one day it were to come true you would feel peace and calmness in your heart?

Raul Guerra: My dream would be that my work serve many; to find the perfect formula of Light/Love to assist others; to feel peace in their hearts; to draw and create something that speaks directly to our souls.

The dreams and desires of human beings, of the intangible and ethereal.
Get as close as possible to my idea of Beauty and Truth.

A face of the most immaculate beauty. The face of that essence we call God.

BPP: How is life currently for the people in your country and what would you wish for them and for the planet at large?

Raul Guerra:The general feeling in my country right now is not very different from the rest of
Europe. The current economic climate is similar here.

These are times of change - the awakening of new awareness.
We are living the last days of an old system. New ways of  thinking are seeking the light of the day.
These obsolete regimes are resisting their own downfall, but they will inevitably fall.
Where are we going? I wouldn’t dare to say.
I am a positive person and I have much hope in us.
The solution to this crisis might not only be an economic or political matter.
This change must  also be spiritual. We need to remember where we come from and hold on tight to our roots to be able to keep north on our compass point and stay strong.

Look for the spiritual side of things, for our spiritual freedom, invest our time surrendering ourselves to that which really matters and prevent those would manipulate the message, loving and sharing what we love most: ourselves.

BPP: If you had a chance to be a child again would you choose the same life?

Raul Guerra: Exactly the same.
I was born in a small town and had a direct and deep contact with the natural world. This fact has been an important ingredient in the person I am today.
My concern and my love for Mother Nature comes from there.

White Fairy

BPP: What was the exact moment that you realized what you wanted to do with your life? How did you feel at this very moment?

Raul Guerra: I do not remember the exact point at which a decision was made.
Rather, it seems to have been the result of a series of choices/actions that were
operating on the path I was already walking.
It was all very natural for me. I’ve always had great and supportive friends
around me. And my family have always respected any decision that I ever made.
I'm fine. Relaxed and doing what I love. All my daily choices are intended to design
a way of life as such. I try not to anticipate events and instead, take things as they arrive..One step at a time.
I'm fine, I'm really fine.
