BPP: Identity: Who you are? And who you really are?

Maureen Curtin: USA, Female, age, as old as the stars since we are made from those elements, Interior Designer. I am very passionate about nutrition and exercise since a very young age and I am always educating people on these two subjects. Family and friends know me as a health nut and come to me for advice and recommendation. People in this country are becoming obese, plus there is the rise in Diabetes because they are more and more dependent on process foods; foods with little nutritional value, not to mention that they don’t make time for themselves to exercise. Volunteering to educate people makes me very happy, maybe I have helped save someone’s health maybe even there life

BPP: If you could say something important you've learned all these years of your life, to the
other people and they were able to listen to you, what would you like to tell them?

Maureen Curtin: I would tell them one needs to think before they speak and when they do, speak with compassionate communication and love. How easily this could take care of so much violence in the world. Also, don’t waste a minute of your life, it is shorter than you think.

BPP: What is your real dream, the one that keeps you awake at nights and if one day it will come true, you will feel your heart calm and peacefull?

Maureen Curtin: Because I am a diver, I am very mindful of the environment and recycling. I would be very much at peace if we could find a solution to all the plastic and trash that is filling the oceans. I see more and more of it every time I go diving. The ocean covers 70 % of the surface of the earth and supports 50 % of the species . There are areas in both the Pacific and Atlantic ocean the size of Texas that are floating with plastic! I would sleep better at night knowing that this was cleaned up. This is a big problem. It is contributing to the contamination of our seafood supply which is the next most endangered natural resource after oil! I do whatever I can to contribute to the prevention of this, even if it is picking up plastic or trash so it does not go in the water!

BPP: How is life for the people in your country today?

What do you wish to happen to them and to the people of this planet at large?

Maureen Curtin: Life in the US is becoming more difficult. This was once a nation that was very affluent. I see us becoming a very divided society economically. The last time this contry was in such a crisis we had the war take us out of it because it put many people back to work. That will not be the case this time. Life is so different now and we are in a global economy where everyone is depending on everyone one else.

We are so interconnected and because we are, we need to work as a whole [entire planet] to maintain a decent standard of living, a world where people understand the importance of conservation of resources, and how to fuction ethically and mindfully for the betterment of themselves and society. How wonderful if we could abolish hunger and if we could have peace. Life is so simple really; people make it more complicated than it has to be.

BPP: If you had the chance to be a child again, will you choose to do the same life you do?

Maureen Curtin: Yes, I would choose the same childhood. It was a very simple life growing up in Miami when the city was very small. My father died when I was very young. I was raised by a single, loving and creative mother. I would not change her for the world. Everyone loves her.

BPP: Which exactly was the moment you understood what you want to do in your life? How did you feel at this very moment?

Maureen Curtin: I knew I wanted to be in the design world since I was about 5 years old. My grandmother was teaching me how to sew a dress for my doll and watching it come together was fascinating. I owe it to her that I can sew anything, dress, suits, curtains, anything at all ,without a pattern! What is fun about having this talent is that it has many applications because you can apply the mechanics to many different areas.

BPP: Something yours: Do you want to tell us something we didn't ask you until now?

Maureen Curtin: I am a vegetarian since I was 15. I am very spiritual but not necessarily religious. I LOVE diving, designing, art, music , being out in nature, butterfly gardening, yoga, Tai Chi, and cooking for my friends and family. It does not have to be in that order. I love connecting with new people and having great conversations! My home and heart are always open.
